I looked at the new sphinx from the commander set and said it was terrible
My friends argument is that you can cast multiple spells from your hand befoe getting rid of the rest.
The card says Whenever you cast a spell, put the cards in your hand on the bottom of your library in any order, then draw that many cards.
This should be in the commander section.

Or general discussion, but this guy will not be modern legal.
You can only cast instants.

You can only cast instants, or things at instant speed, while the draw-new-hand ability is on the stack
Clarified a bit.
However, what can make this card is a couple of good draw effects.
{Niv-mizzet, the firemind} makes every spell you cast deal damage in addition to it's effect.
{sphinx's tutelage} also loves this.
And if you really want a full hand, there's {Alhammarret's Archive}.
Say you start with 3, cast a spell, draw 4. Cast, draw 6. Cast, draw 10. Cast, draw 18.
Adds up like crazy
Once you cast the card, the ability goes on the stack, at that point, you can cast any instants in your hand before the ability resolves. I believe. Don't quote me on that, I'm just guess based on my knowledge of things and stuff

Draw two cards instead. It doubles it not just one more.

Yeah, it does indeed. You cast a spell, so go down one card. Then you draw double what's left while putting your hand on the bottom.

You can cast instant speed things with the trigger on the stack. Little reminder: for every spell you cast with the trigger on the stack, a new trigger will be added. If you cast three instants, you'll be drawing and ditching three times. After any draw, you can react by casting more instants though.

The amount of cards you draw is checked upon resolution. So say you have a hand of 5 instants and throw them all on the stack. You will pitch 0 and draw 0 5 times.
Then it's worth not casting them all.

Unless one of them is a draw spell...
Or you just didn't want to wheel them.

It really depends. If you know there's better stuff below, you could keep one and wheel four times.
