Title: Omnath, blue frog of hops
Post by: Oldschoolmtgnoob on October 26, 2015, 10:44:44 PM
I have {Omnath, locus of rage} and {embodiment of spring} out. I activate Spring's ability, and in response, my oppenent plays {turn to frog} on Omnath. So I'm figuring the 3damage still goes off, but the landfall trigger will not. Is this correct?

You sac the elemental to pay for the ability, putting it in the graveyard and the tutor on the stack. Then the bolt ability is put on the stack, before your opponent gets priority to cast {turn to frog}. The stack resolves, making Omnath a frog, dealing 3, tutoring land. Since Omnath has no abilities anymore, landfall will not trigger.

Short version: correct, as Nymuera stated already. Just figured a why could help.

During play, I totally somehow convinced him that they still both go off. But about an hour later, I thought about it, and realized I totally cheated 😯
