Title: Create your own Walker
Post by: Prplprince on October 17, 2015, 02:54:15 AM
After talking in post about Jace's evil brother Jack, and thinking up some sweet abilities for him with them I thought why not make up some more for fun. I guess some rules.

1. Don't make it overtly overpowered.
Example: "+1: exile target creature, it's controller loses 5 life".... Everyone and their mother knows that's broken

2. Try to stay in the color pie.
Example: a mono red Walker with "-2: gain life equal to the number of creatures on the battlefield"..... Doesn't feel very red

3. Come up with some lore to fuel your Walker.
Example: your {U}{B} Rogue flavor Walker walked the streets of Ravnica searching for a purpose, and the dimir gave him one.... You don't need to write an essay but have fun with it!

4. Include a name, mana cost, starting loyalty, and the abilities.
Example: {Sorin, Lord of Innistrad}

Besides that have fun making them up!

Jack Beleren {2}{B}{U}
Planeswalker - Jack

+1: Jack Beleren deals 1 damage to target creature or planeswalker.  If this creature or planeswalker is Jace, deal twice that much damage instead

-X: Deal damage equal to X times 2 to target blue creature and draw cards equal to X times 3.

-7: Destroy target Planeswalker an opponent controls.  If that planeswalker is Jace Beleren, then you win the game.

(4 starting loyalty)

"We are brothers by blood, not by choice." -Jack Beleren to Jace beleren
The post that started my idea. I'll bring the Jack walkers here for examples

How about this?:

Jack Beleren X{B}{U}
Starting loyalty: X

+1: Each player draws a card, then discards a card.
-2: Put 2 -1/-1 counters on one target creature. If it is blue you may put an additional 2 -1/-1 counters on it.
-8: exile all planes walkers on the battlefield you do not control. Then search all your opponent's libraries, graveyards, and hands for all planes Walker cards and exile them, then shuffle all libraries. You get an emblem with: "At the beginning of your upkeep, each opponent loses life equal to the amount of Planeswalkers named Jace that are exiled."

Edit: and I love that flavor text you had so it needs to be there

My shot at an evil Jace

Jack Beleren {2}{B}{U}

+1 Target creature gets -1/-1 until your next turn

-3 Remove any number of counters from target permanent. If that permanent has the subtype Jace, put that many counters on Jack Beleren.

-8 You get an emblem with "Counter the first spell your opponents cast each turn" and "Players that control a Jace permanent can't cast spells"

Starting Loyalty: 4

"We are brother's by blood, not by choice. Besides, I was always the brighter student."

Lore: Jace always had a brother named Jack. While Jace was bullied and feared, Jack was popular and admired. When Alhameret came, he came for Jack. Upon seeing Jace's abilities he decided to make use of the boy.

While Jack was a star student, Jace excelled as well, but was abused. When Jace discovered the truth and confronted Alhameret, Alhameret, having underestimating Jace, completely irradicated all memory of Jack from Jace's mind in a last ditch effort. This was successful.

I feel that the lore is better than the planeswalker. However it'd be two turn GG to any player controlling a Jace that couldn't win off current board position, while having pretty decent and I think relevant abilities.

Fblthp, the seeking {2}{U}{U}{U}
Planeswalker: Flbylth

+1: Put a card from your hand onto the battlefield facedown if it has a morph ability

-1: Turn a face down card face up,

-6: search your library for any number of cards with a morph ability. Put those cards into the battle field face down.  The morph cost for these cards becomes {2}{U}

(3 starting loyalty)

Based on {Toyally lost} featuring the beloved Fblthp

Decided morph because we need a good morph-walker

{Kaervek, Reaper of Souls} {3}{G}{B}
Planeswalker - Kaervek

+1: Reveal the top five cards of your library. You may put a creature or land card from among them into your hand. Put the rest into your graveyard.

-3: Target creature gets -X/-X or +X/+X until end of turn where X is the number of creatures in your graveyard.

-6: You get an emblem with: "Whenever a creature you control is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, target opponent loses 3 life"

Starting Loyalty: 3

Just off the top of my head.

Kaervek was a long time healer on Naya when the tribe discovered his attatchments to the dark arts of black magic. Banished, he traveled to Jund to seek refuge. And he found it, just atop the cliffs of Jund was a cave where one could see {Prossh} soar through the sky mightily. Kaervek enhanced his magic through the devastation of what Prossh left as "remnants". He now is learning to harness revival magic to gather up an undead army and sack the town in Naya that banishe him.

I'm liking these walkers! I'll try my luck with a Gruul based Walker.

Nordric, the Betrayer
{R}{G}
2 loyalty
+1: Target creature you control gets +1/+0 and "this creature can only be blocked by one creature" until end of turn.
0: Put a 1/1 Green and Red warrior token with haste and "This creature can't block" onto the battlefield.
-6: Sacrifice all creatures you control, then choose one. Put an X/X green and red Wurm token with shroud and trample onto the battlefield or put X 1/1 green and red warrior tokens with haste and "this creature can't block" onto the battlefield where X equals the total power of creatures sacrificed.

Lore: Nordric was a captain in the Boros legion. After many a battle, the seasoned warrior he was wounded in battle and left for dead along with the rest of his battalion. The beasts of the wild began circling his soon to be grave but the Gruul cleared the beasts and offered Nordric and what was left of his battalion safety and a purpose... Revenge

Velajuel, Seeker of Thoughts {2}{U}{R}
Planeswalker - Velajuel

+1: Look at the top two cards of your library, put one into your hand and the other in your graveyard.

-3: Return target instant or sorcery card from your graveyard to your hand.

-7: Whenever you cast a spell this turn, you may draw three cards

Starting Loyalty: 2

Velajuel was a geniu scientist of the Izzet league when he started testing his new town portal that could take one anywhere on Ravnica. But he made a miscalculation in his transdimensional algorithm. Instead of traveling across Ravnica, he instead made it so he could travel the multiverse without knowing this himself. When the day of the test began, he walked through, the machine rattling an thunking, when he opened his eyes, he found himself in a garden with monks and a dragon sitting aloof a pedestal. It wasn't Niv-Mizzet that was for sure. So he spoke to one of the monks and asked them where he was. They said he was in one of the Mystic Monasteries of the Jeskai clan. Seeking to learn more about this new environment, he now travels across Tarkir. Everyday, learning something new about the plane.

But {Kaervek the merciless} existed all the way back in Mirage and Visions expansions...
But THAT Kaervek lived on Dominaria, not Alara.

Krenko, Goblin Revolutionary
{1}{R}{R} cmc
4 Loyalty
Effect: whenever a non-token creature enters the battlefield under your control put 1 loyalty on Krenko unless an opponent pays 1 life.
0: the next creature you cast this turn gains haste and can only be blocked by two or more creatures. Return it to your hand at end of turn.
-2: Krenko deals damage equal to his loyalty to target creature or player. If you control a goblin, Krenko deals an additional 2 damage to that target.
-8: each player discards their hand and draws 7 cards. Until end of turn red spells you control cost {0} to cast.

After being imprisoned by the Azorius for 4 year Krenko finally mounted an escape, thanks to his goons staging a  {Five-Alarm Fire} as a diversion. Now free, he is gathering the lowlifes scatter across Ravnica... "It is time to show  {Lavinia of the Tenth} and all the bastards who detain us that we won't go quietly" Krenko yells as his fanatics raise their clubs and touches. "It's time to show them what a true {Goblin Assault} really means!"

The flavor is a mono red Walker that has no plus abilities like a {Sarkhan the Mad} but with a little twist. He has a passive ability that will give him loyalty or Burn the opponent for it. Idk if that's to broken but up for judgment

Gorith, the suicidal
{B} {R}
Loyalty: 4

[-1] a random opponent gains control of a random creature a random opponent controls
(One dude randomly gets a creature from another dude)

[-3] each creature gains +1/+0 and deals damage to itself equal to its power. Gorith,the suicidal gains X loyalty where X is 1/10 of creatures killed this way.

[-4] sacrifice gorith, the suicidal and choose one. You lose the game, effects that prevents this loss does not trigger

•target player gains a emblem with
"sacrifice a creature: add {0} to your mana pool"

• target player loses the game. This effect can only be played if 4 or more players are alive in the game.

• each player gains a emblem with
"whenever a creature you control enters the graveyard you may put a poison counter on target player. You do not lose health."

"What am i? But who are you! Maybe you should be asking what isn't. But should you?"
- gorgaia, the god of madness.

His story is that in his plane of existence he acted as a equalizer so no wars broke out, all valuable objects were randomly distributed.
He would force all men whom has taken part in war to commit suicide and he sacrificed himself to save his plane of existence from the phyrexian menace.

When he sacrificed himself he not only killed the menace but he also:
Put a curse on the plane so for every one person to die by a brothers hand. another one died as well.

People deemed him a god hundreds of years later and created sacrificial altars for his glory

Kinda sad that his emblem leads to poison counter death, just the infection he fought to stop..

The story is very well interconnected
