Title: Withering boon relivence in EDH
Post by: Diabolic bookworm on October 14, 2015, 05:46:12 AM
The fact you can pay 3 and counter someones commander in edh is huge. Hexproof comanders are countered and any "enter the battlefield" effects won't trigger. Anyone agree?

{Withering boon}

{Withering boon}

No different than any other counter, except it is black. It sucks that it is limited strictly to creatures.

This isn't completely terrible in Commander but it is far from an auto include.

This card is great. No one ever expects the mono black deck to have a countserspell. You should be playing this if you're not already playing blue.

If you've got no access to {U}, people will be caught off guard. So you can get a surprise counter in.
Downside when compared to the blue options are huge. It's a very worse {remove soul}, with the 3 life cost.

{Slaughter pact} is also good black removal especially since they wont be expecting you to have an answer while you are tapped out
