Title: Moral decision
Post by: Oldschoolmtgnoob on October 05, 2015, 07:27:16 PM
There's a small baseball card shop I buy from sometimes on my way to school. I saw a box of Conspiracy on his self for $100. I didn't realize at the time that that's pretty much the price and thought because it's an older set, maybe it would be going for more. I asked about it and he said he never raised the price of boxes after he buys them.
So I thought...what if it were like a box of Zendikar for whatever it's retail was on release? (I'm assuming $100-$130). Would you guys just buy it without saying anything or let him know that it's worth 7x what he's got it at? An old man sitting around millions of old dusty baseball cards in a crappy shopping center...choose wisely

I doubt he has a box of zendikar on the shelves. If he does, I'd buy it. It's his responsibility as a store owner to be aware of what he can sell his merchandise for.

That's like telling him the sensei tops in his bulk commons are $30 cards

Don't inform sellers of the profit you may make by buying

I would tell them if I wasn't interested in the cards. If I find a {Disrupting Shoal} in a bulk rares box, I'm not going to find anyone to unload it on. So, I'd prefer to help the seller out by pointing out some value they missed.

It was a hypothetical. It seems like a place where no serious player really goes to buy cards. So I thought, as improbable as it may be, it's not impossible. But no he doesn't...I asked😛

I would buy the box and either sell it or draft it with friends

Agreed unless it's a little kid who doesn't know better.

It's not a question of can you, it's should you. That guy obviously doesn't follow magic and he's just trying to make enough to eat and open the store tommorow. Comic book stores make very little money. That extra money could be his utility bill.

Chances are he's already set the math on items so it's really just a bonus for him if he finds out he can make more
