Other things you can do for 8 mana or less: {Griselbrand}, {Avacyn, Angel of Hope}, {Craterhoof Behemoth}, {Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite}.. But really, it's a super expensive combo for relatively small gains. You can still use gathering though! Save it for when someone miracles a ridiculously big {Entreat The Angels}!
Hmmm, lots of mana for a 7/7 and a pair of 3/3s, yes....
What if you played a slow control game instead and picked off things with {Helvault}, saving your own dying creatures too? Then, use a free means of sac'ing the vault ({Throne of Geth}), and casting {Gather Specimens} in response.
{hunted horror} is only two mana, for a 7/7 and two 3/3s? Or am I missing something?

Oh I miss read it, te opponents get the 3/3s. But still a two drop 7/7.

yeah but the 3/3's have protection from black. so the 7/7 could very well end up useless

yeah but the 3/3's have protection from black. so the 7/7 could very well end up useless

I'll just pack some removal spells, or a {mind control} next turn.
