Title: Casual anyone??
Post by: AMCMechanic on September 30, 2015, 05:50:11 PM
looking to try out my white green counter/populate deck. Just added in a few things and paired it down quite a bit. Looking to see if it works out. It is a new deck, so be gentle lol, also looking for criticism of anyone has any thoughts.

Since when has Channel/Emrakul ever been a casual deck?
About as casual as fastbond T1 kill decks..
But casual has no card restrictions, everything goes...

I may be beating a dead horse, but when somebody is playing a casual G/W counter/populate deck, they are playing kitchen table casual. Not, "let me lose in two turns to your {Channel} {Emrakul, the Aoens Torn} deck".

Sorry everyone, I was in Cuba so no internet conection.

And, to set the record strait. I don't mind loosing at all, I'm decently new at magic. So when I loose to some rediculous combo it gives me ideas of stuff I can do.

Although, Nobellamma does have a point. I still walked away from that match having learned something. I'm playing magic over the Internet on a rather large magic forum, I expect a slaughter. Hahaha. But I would love constructive criticism.

So, I would love to re-match you let me know as to when.

I take two. Done?

If so, I take my turn accordingly:

{Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx}
{Buring-Tree Emissary}
{Buring-Tree Emissary}
Add four, use two for {Lightning Greaves}
{Voyaging Satyr}
Untap {Nykthos}.

Title: Re: Casual anyone??
Post by: AMCMechanic on October 11, 2015, 04:33:49 PM
Yes, I am done, but I get two 1/1 white soldiers thanks to doubling season and combat damage from precinct captain.
So
Captain is tapped, two 1/1 soldiers on the field and pass
3/20

Edit: not another turn, just that my turn resolved.

Ohhhh, it's each! Ahh. Well then if no swing. Bord wipe on my side except for {captain of the watch}

Draw
Forest
Tap all but one for {elspeth sun champion}
Use her plus one, put out 3 1/1's which become 6 2/2's thanks to doubling season
Loyalty on Elspeth is at 9
Pass
2/20

Now, I also have a question since I have this combo up. I was told that doubling season effected all counters, including loyalty counters on plains walkers and level up counters as well. Figured it would be good to ask. The literature on the card would suggest that that is correct, but I've never played it like that because it's to dickly.
Title: Re: Casual anyone??

Now, here is my question, cause I knew you were going to do that lol.

I also have a response to that (possibly)

But, when a card is canceled does that mean it never reaches "play" so therefore even though it is going into the graveyard. It never resolves??

Once I get an answer I will respond and then probably have another question. Lol
Title: Re: Casual anyone??
Post by: AMCMechanic on October 16, 2015, 12:24:52 AM
Got my answer thought the rules section.
So, no resolution

In response, I un-tap Mage ring remove 1 storage counter from it tap the rest of my mana to play {giddeons phalanx}, and with 2 instants in my grave yard, all my creatures gain indestructible

So, does this end up working because it's on the top of the stack?

Do you mean if your {Academy Rector} resolves? If yes, then no. It still does not resolve since it's still on the the stack and rector hasn't reached play. Essence Scatter us still checking resolution, it doesn't care about state-based invincibility. So, no. Rector still gets countered. But you do gain invincibility.

At the point where a spell is countered, it is not yet a permanent on the battlefield.
Indestructible only cares about things on the field, so it will not affect your spells, or even creature spells on the stack.
Suppose: you have a bunch of creatures, and you cast {craterhoof behemoth}. The opposing player responds by activating  {Nevinyrral's Disk}. Then first all creatures would be destroyed, and then Behemoth would come in.
A spell only becomes a permanent when it successfully resolves, and a counterspell "kills off" the spell.

Actually, they don't die. They go in your library, than disappear..
In effect, they're gone.

I hate to be a pain, but did you have the mans up to counter that last spell of mine? You tapped out for 11 did you not? And unless my counting skills are terribly off your tapped out. Just curious. With you playing a counter deck I'm having a tough time keeping track of how much mana you have up so I can plan accordingly

Wow, what is it exactly?? Those counters are gross as well. Unless you have....... I forget what it is called, but some sorcerers and instants have an extra piece to them that dose not let the player cast any more spells while it's on the stack, that would be the only way around those counters.

Sure, that would be awesome. I've eddited it again since/ while we played in real life as I used the test function to keep my hand and deck up. But, I will compile an updated list once I get back from work. I've added in a few more plainswallkers and another {parallel lives} and {primal vigor}.
