Title: Beating lantern
Post by: Ieatfood7 on September 15, 2015, 10:53:49 PM
ok. So my list wins through creature combat. It is slow aggro with the ability to grind out games.

I think I'm too slow to sneak in under Lantern Control's {ensnaring bridge} and most of my answers, they have answers to

Ancient grudge-regenerate or recur artifacts.
Mill them out - put artifacts back on library
Retrace/flashback spells - main board GY hate

I am UBRG. What should I do to win through an ensnaring bridge, where I am unlikely to be allowed to draw my artifact removal and where if I do, they can counteract it?

Best piece of hate is stony silence. The one color you're not in lol

Basically late game Afro is going to have no game against Lantern. Even if you splash {W} for {Stony Silence} they can hide behind a bridge until they find something to remove it.

Unless your sideboard can transform you into something faster, there isn't much to do besides 4 {Ancient Grudge}.

Them Afros have been going down hill ever since the sixties lol

Yeah. I'm debating between trying for an alternate win (milling them or direct damage)

I'm also toying with anchient grudge (great, but they can recur everything if they have time) Shatterstorm/hurkeyals recall (if I get it in opener or they can't mill it or I get it off a "draw 2" spell, then I can build an army and swing in one big turn.

I wasn't running any GY hate, since the only GY decks that scare me are reanimators and discard works almost as good there.

Maybe this is the time for it. I dunno. Seems like if I have time to start hitting their GY with ooze, they already have the bridge lock down by then.

{hurkyll's recall} seems quite good eot, then swing for lethal.
