my French teacher today asked the class if anyone spoke another language. She looked right at me and asked me. I replied no. I am Asian though so would that be racist?

When learning how to speak before groups I learned to pick out a few individuals in the crowd, and focus on those. That way, you can address the crowd without trying to look at everyone individually, which creates stress. It could be just that. She happened to be looking at you. Or, she just decided to direct the question at you for some reason. Maybe you seemed distant somehow. All in all, it could be nothing.
Saw this happen to s guy in my class. He was pretty much the only black guy in that entire year (about 100-150 students).
Whenever one of us would look at him, or say something, didn't matter. Everything we did was either because of his race (according to him) or because we pitied him. In the end, he drove himself from that school, because he FELT discriminated all the time. There was no intent whatsoever from most of us. (Bullies will always pick on outsiders, so of course they had every intent),
Moral: if you feel offended by something, talk to the person. It could be it was never meant that way. In any case, by talking about it one-on-one, you can both learn something of it.

No. Did you tell the truth?

Is that relevant?
Of course. You find it otherwise?
Yeah. Him telling the truth about whether or not he speaks another language cannot possibly change if she was racist (which she wasn't OP.) Unless you meant something else.

If you are actively trying to find racism, you will find it even if it isn't there. :P
I'm not trying to find it on purpose, it just crosses my mind from time to time

Fair enough. That happens. Just try to not let it get too you.

Just remember, when it comes to other people try to focus on your similarities with them and not your differences.
