Title: Alesha and the Demon
Post by: Deebiia on August 15, 2015, 11:39:42 PM
So I've been mulling over this idea for awhile now. I want to make a final EDH deck. A nice little combo I've come up with in the deck uses, {Master of Creulties} with {Goblin Tunneler}. Make him unblockable and attack. My only problem is hitting that last 1 life. I don't want to depend on shocks and such, so I thought, "Huh. I wonder what the interaction between {Alesha, Who Smiles at Death} and the demon would be. Does her, "tapped and attacking" override the text on {Master of Creulties}'s, "can only attack alone"?

If so are there any other ways to specifically abuse either Alesha or the Master?

It does indeed work. Also, {kaalia of the vast} and {master of cruelties}.

Damn beat me to the kaalia punch. I've seen many days ended with her plus master. The can only attack alone is a specific restriction that only matters during the declare attackers step. You cannot declare moc an attacker with any other creature. But if other creatures are attacking, and he joins them, the game is cool with that. And same for vice versa. As long as your not declaring him an attacking during the the declare attackers step with any other creatures your good.

Likewise, creatures with defender can be pulled by Alesha, tapped and attacking.
Can't attack means as much as "can't be declared as an attacker during the declare attackers step", since the end of that step is the last point the game checks for legality of the attack.
Just like you couldn't flash in a {pacifism} to stop an attacking creature.
