Not exactly. Lifeline gives a property to the damage, causing it to gain it's controller life. Spirit link creates a triggered abillity linked to the dealing of the damage.

but they do the same right? its just you gain life in a different way? sorry, im poor at understanding :(

the biggest difference is, if your swinging in for lethal damage, and I have a lifelink creature to block I will gain the life at the same time as damage so I won't lose. If I have a gain life trigger, I will die while the trigger is going on the stack.
