Title: X cost scavenge?
Post by: Splicer on August 13, 2015, 09:25:33 PM
if you had a {Varloz, the scar striped} out and a hydra(let's just say {Genesis hydra}) in your graveyard, could you scavenge for X as pay any amount to put that many counters on a creature?

Under varloz's rulings the first one says that if the creature has X in its cost X is zero.

Even if you could pay for X, as Splicer said, its p/t in the graveyard wouldn't change with another value of x (enters the battlefield with X counters, but base p/t still 0/0)

But X is considered zero anywhere but on the stack.

Just find *. Those hold their value everywhere. See {lord of extincfion}. Also {death's shadow} is varols bff.
