considering the prices of cards like {Jace, Vryn's Prodigy} and the {Hangarback Walker}, I cannot help but wonder if there isn't some serious artificial inflation at work.
{Archangel of Tithes} Is playable, but why are so many cards from this set virtually all rising in parallel?
Scarcity, buyouts cause artificial price increases. This set isn't a "low open" set and now the largest entities have the deepest stock of product and the wait...
Messed up
It's still early in the box cracking. Prices are high the first few weeks.
It's the age of Aquarius. New times, but more and more everyone takes what he can and profits on his brethren.
But seriously, ever since I have been tracking prices (admittedly, only since M15), I can't escape the feeling pro speculators have discovered the market, and follow up on hypes like they always do: make money off of them.
There's nothing right now that has to do with buyouts. This is more likely than not a bunch of spectators of the Pro Tour seeing what decks are doing well and buying the cards to make those decks for themselves. It doesn't take that many interested players to buy up what stores currently have. It's a new set, it's still being opened, prices are still high. Wait a month or so. I'm sure prices will soon settle.
People buy out items because they feel they will profit.
Get on your spec game
This is why legacy is just a better format for those on a budget
You spend 500-3k on a deck once. Rather than durdle with 3-4 standard decks that range from 250-400 each that can change greatly with each new release.
Until tons are opened, prices stay up.
Tell that to time Warner

It's astounding... hopefully Wizards will have a stance on buyouts soon enough.
That's the thing though, you can't "take a stance" against buyouts without "taking a stance against capitalism and free market trade".
You can't restrict trade, it just doesn't work, you only hurt the little guys who kitchen table magic.
Ah, but those guys are acting as monopoly powers, which is illegal.
Only in a regulated market. Magic cards are an unregulated market.
Another thing I have noticed is the shift of people who used to buy packs/boxes to now buying singles. So less packs being cracked means less cards available. Maybe it's just by me.
Probably a lot of money spent on mm2

I also notice this.
No way to buy out something with this much print time left. This is just early demand spiking. Just wait and all of these will fall soon enough. Some could stay relatively high until the next set is released.
I honestly believe there are not buyouts yet. The problem is it is a new set that is doing well and most major tournaments such as Grand Prix are all standard upcoming resulting in the hot new cards
New set HYPE!
It's a little different than the usual new set hype
That inflation doesn't usually last this long.
Btw guys this is similar to swagtusk and resto angel being together for that bit tho
Prices were probably pretty high then to.
It's the last time this many sets will ever be in standard again so...
