Title: Vintage
Post by: Kaalia with haste on July 07, 2015, 01:23:12 AM
Just played vintage for the first time (completely proxied) and had an AWESOME time. I just wanted to make a post recommending that any of you who haven't played vintage should proxy a deck and try it, it's so much fun. The deck I played is grixis thieves if anyone cares

Shops deck is best deck
Debatable, it depends on the meta of a given tournament. At the largest NA vintage tournament this year the actual best choice in the room was dredge.

Metagaming a vintage tournament is hard because you make some serious concessions depending on what you pick because the sideboards are so tight.

Im assuming you're a vintage player? Can I ask you why young pyromancer is in my sideboard? I truly don't know. I just played a stock deck list I found on the internet

I play vintage when I can (only the past few months/year), usually there's a tournament once a month nearby, also getting ready for Champs next month.

What deck did you play? Do you have a link to the list?

It is LSV played it during the Vintage Super League. It's for the mirror basically and any deck that doesn't combo kill you turn 1

..... any deck that doesn't combo kill you turn 1

And this is why I don't play Legacy, Vintage OR Modern
I saw a tournament result announcement talking about the final round for a big one of these and it talked about how exciting the third round was of the final match, WHEN THE GUY T1 KILLED THE OTHER PLAYER. It was a mirror match, so it was who drew the combo in opening hand...that's not exciting, I don't find it fun to take more time to shuffle than to play/lose, no thank you, I enjoy the game, the grind of having field advantage and losing it, being down and gaining the upper hand, the game where you win by so little health that you are nearly sweating.

I play Magic the Gathering, not Poker, I play so I can enjoy strategy of the field, not did I get dealt the perfect 5 cards to win...

That is not how vintage or legacy games typically play out. That's not even how poker is played out.

To each their own Llama but Cintage is much more than that! You play with the best spells in the game and not every game ends Turn 1.

Legacy has few decks that CAN win turn 1 most killing Turn 2-3 on good hands and Turn 4 on slower hands without disruption from your opponent.

Modern ... Rarely kills before Turn 4 ...

I love standard sometimes and casual multiplayer where its T10 before you have enough defense to mount an offense without dying to the other 3 players

I realize im a niche player and not the seasoned circuit grinder so ill go slink back over here to my bronze sable army and glare menacingly while finding away to cheat them all into a deck much less into play somehow...
{Bronze Sable} x4
{Body Double} x4
{Clone} x4
{Artisan of Kozilek} x4
tons of copies and returns... you can have your army of sables.
