They finally got to open beta?
Feels like ages ago that I got the invite for the closed.
I stopped playing WoT after release of WoP. I just realized I couldn't keep up with the pros. I play too little. Played a bit of planes, but it felt too outta control.
How is warships? If I think of sea battles you've got carrier & main guns vs subs/destroyers.
Seems stationary.

There are 4 types of ships: destroyers, crusiers, battleships, carriers.

Destoryers are the hunter/killers highest speed and great maneuverability but suffer from low armor. Their guns are few not the best ranged and don't deal great damage. The tradeoff is they have good spotting and incredable torpedoes. They also pack an on demand smokescreen.  This setup makes them like assasins. Spot the enemy at range, then using smokescreens to mask their exact location they get close and fire torps. Even the meatiest battle ship don't want to eat a full torpedo attack. And if they do the flooding will drain their hp quickly.

Battleships- biggest boats on the sea. This results in the opposite of destroyers. Slow but with huge meat hunks of hp to eat through. Thats to to say these things are just big tanks that don't do much damage. These things have GUNS. If an enemy battleship fires on you, you'll feel it. They also boast the fartherest firing range, secondary guns(smaller cannons that autofire on closeenough ships), and large ammounts of AA guns.

Carriers, so you like RTS games? Carrier is what you want. We don't much care to do the dirty work, only fools risk their hp in a fire fight. Instead carriers use airplanes to fight, scouts to spot enemies, fighters to combat other planes, torpedos for attacks from the sides, bombers for attacks from front or back. The biggest dissation for a carrier is the path the planes will take. A direct route will permit the fastest damage but smart players will track your planes back to you, so having them take a long loop will permit them to use their flight speed to escape the players sights before returning to you.

Lastly crusiers. Basicly the all around jack of all trades. They don't have the best guns, or armor(hp), or speed, or AA. But they can do abit of everything, my teir 3 has torpedeos and once it hits t4 it will get a plane also. This means while they don't have any big weakness they have the ability to exploit the other ship classes weaknesses.

Gameplay wise the maps are limited as expected of a beta, but otherwise the maps don't have any complaint from me. The start of the round is always slow and tense as your team gets going. Once the enemy team starts to appear it becomes instense, dodging the long range salvos of battleships is enjoyable and butthole clenching.  While hitting with them is satisfying.  The audio and soundtrack of WoT never did much for me but the music brings a certain level of intensity to the firefights as the round heats up. There are alots of status effects like jammed rudders. Fires and flooding or out of Commission guns. They will be removed after a set time or you can activie a speacil crew to repair all debuffs an give you a few seconds of immunity to new ones, but they have a long cooldown and sometimes its better to deal with a down gun then risk using them only to catch fire. So far, better then WoT
So far i am only level 4 (there is an account based leveling thing) and am loving the game.

As for the stationary comment. Its anything but. If your engine goes out, you run aground, or you choose to stop. You will die, speed is needed to turn and both are needed to minimize damage by dodging. Destroyers need to use their high speed to get close to make effective use of trops, and battleships want to keep the enemy just inside their attack range.
