Title: GB rock commander?
Post by: Kaalia with haste on July 02, 2015, 05:45:59 PM
I want to play with {pernicious deed}. That is basically it. Who's my best option for a rock style?

I don't recognise the rock style... What is it? Mana rocks?

I really like {Savra, Queen of the Golgari} in this style deck.

{Glissa, the Traitor} is quite epic. Would let you blow stuff up and get stuff back.

{Iname as One} I want to see it work. I really do. It's just so much mana...which kinda works.

{Nath of the Gilt-Leaf} doesn't synergies at all but it's a really neat ability.

{Sapling of Colfenor}: Gives you an interesting creature base.

{Sisters of Stone Death}: Gorgon tribal please! xD They're a pretty badass mana sink if you can keep them around.

Glissa enables a combo if you can make the enchantment an artifact. You blow it up, creatures die, you return it.
Thing is, is there anything besides {mycosynth lattice}? And if you go that way, could you not better go  {Nevinyrral's Disk} + regenerate for your commander.

Other nice one would be {Kresh, the bloodbraided}, since it gets stronger as you kill creatures.

{Liquimetal Coating} works nicely. Of course {Darksteel Forge} would be involved if you go the artifact route.

True. Enables one sided wipes with disk, and with lattice you could retrieve the deed, since you'd still have to sac it.

EDIT: 💡💡: both don't work. Lattice only turns permanents to artifacts, coating affects only permanents. The enchantment needs to be an artifact in the grave..

Think Kresh would be best. You can kill anything under 4 without a hitch, then swing, likely for lethal.

How does the dying trigger work with EDH?
You can choose to move it to the command zone when it's put into exile instead of the gy?
It seems like a complex interaction of replacement effects to me...

Good point...if you redirect from the graveyard exile do you still get a return?

Just realized Inane has an intervening if clause while googling the interaction on dying.
Etb, "if you cast it from your hand".
That's no to tutor {inane death aspect}. If you can get death in another reliable way, you can stack your spirits in the grave, kill off As One, get {iname life aspect}. In that case the return of your general is trivial. However, that archetype doesn't do too much for OP's question.

On the matter of the interaction:
In a Commander game, you may send Iname to the Command Zone instead of exiling it during the resolution of its ability. If you do, its ability still works. Iname's ability only requires that you attempted to exile it, not that it actually gets to the exile zone.
