Title: My wonderful deck...
Post by: Coolie2 on June 30, 2015, 07:33:10 PM
well I have my almost vintage deck here that I would like to polish up a bit before camp this summer... It's focuses are tokens, life, and counter gaining. While I know, I know there are quite a few planes walkers... Every since I have added them in I HAVE won more. This deck is a combo deck. While it can be weak to aggro, if the planes walkers get out fast enough with help from some of the creatures, the aggro can be nullified. While this deck is especially powerful in the long run, with mainly the planes walkers summoning tokens and other cards improving the tokens, with good life gain and some counter gain, this deck can have mana problems at times even with the improvements that I've made to it. While there are cards such as Iona, Shield of Wrath that I've been thinking about adding, I would like other suggestions as well. I have also looked at the current list of Magic Origins cards and have interest in a couple. This deck is my collection of most powerful cards and I would love to improve it!

Well, I should say token gain, not populate...

As chaotic and odd this deck seems, I like it. It's like playing EDH in a 60 card deck. May I ask why so many one-of's?

To ensure the largest possible number of combos, I use the most cards I can. I pick the best I find and generally try to get them to work with the themes. Besides sol ring, I don't want multiples because first of all, I want to make sure I always have a working combo, not just have four of a card in my hand, and also so much variety creates different strategies for winning, and different ways to beat different decks.

Am I missing something due non linked cards but why is there a need for c lantern? In a duel colored deck it's really just taking a spot up? Instead you may think about  {Angel of Jubilation} so then avacyn and platinum can't be sacd

I put in c lantern due to my mana troubles. Also, if I ever feel like putting in a card that needs a different kind of mana, it's good. Also, I don't get what angel of jubilation would really due to my deck as it is expensive for what it does. It basically just adds 1/1 to all (something that many cheaper on mana cards do) plus has some things against black decks. For these reasons, I got rid of it from my deck a while ago. But if there's a part of the card I dont get plz explain...

With avacyn making everything indestructible and jubilation make it sac proof your basically sitting on a lot of awesome tokens .... The c-lantern is great and understand your reasons it's just in my opinion not needed and taking space but I've been wrong

Only two ways to get rid of an indestructible permanent: exile or sac.
With the Angel, you limit it to exile. Not too many removal for that.

EDIT: took the trouble of reading the card..
Angel will not prevent sacrifice as an effect.
So what I said is wrong.

Sac proof? Sacrifice? Cause only black decks usually sacrifice creatures for stuff...

But I do see your point... Hmm... I'll try it out... Due to its one time effect, I've been considering removing Goldnight Redeemer. Once I have Iona, Shield of Emeria, I'll have to find something else to move too though...

Sorry for adding confusion. I didn't read the card properly. It will stop paying life or sacrifices while paying for an ability.  {Bloodthrone Vampire} For example can't get its bonus.
However, being forced to sacrifice will still work, because it is not a cost.
Important, reading.

While the autocorrect was funny, the {angel of jubilation} will NOT prevent effects like annihilate. There is a card that will, but I can't find it.

Are all the Eldrazi this powerful?
Title: Re: My wonderful deck...
Post by: Kaylesh on July 02, 2015, 11:00:44 AM
The Eldrazi Titans are all pretty much insanely powerful and very hard to cast unless you have a trick up your sleeve. {show and tell}, hide-away lands, {elvish piper}, that sort of work.
But you could also use mana rocks ({sol ring} and co) and ramp ({exploration}/{rampant growth}).

{Emrakul, the Aeons Torn}
{It That Betrays}
{Kozilek, Butcher of Truth}
{Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre}
These are the "titans" I believe.
I've used a deck with Drazi's in a dotp version, I'll see if I can find it. Or maybe someone else has something?

I see... In my opinion, Emrakul is the best with the only other decent one being ulamog...

Emmy is the #1, but I had to pick my jaw off the floor hearing "the only decent one"..
{it that betrays} will steal ANYTHING your opponent sacrifices, that's pretty awesome in my book.

In my experience sacrificing doesn't happen too much unless a deck is centered around it

Except that {It that betrays} on his own has annihilator, which makes you SACRIFICE.
{Kozilek, butcher of truth} generates insane card advantage.
{Ulamog the infinite gyre} is a nice {Vindicate} attached to a giant annihilating body.

Can you specifically explain what annihilator does?

It triggers when you attack. So, you declare an attack with your edrozy, and the defending player chooses and sacrifices X permanents. Then your attack can be blocked and such.

{Sigarda, Host of Herons} is what you're thinking.  It's actually a nice fit here.  Goes with the theme and stays in {G} {W}
