Title: Descendants' path?

The ability states name a type if I name wolf will it count for ware wolfs and wolfir ?

Nope only wolf. Haven't heard of wolfir, however.

Yes for wolfir, not for werewolves. The wolfir have the subtype Wolf: {Wolfir Avenger}, where werewolves are their own thing. {Terror of Kruin Pass}

You can't name wolfir because it's not a creature type. Wolf, human, werewolf are all examples of creature types.

Edit: also, you don't name a type with this card. It checks creatures you have in play.

In EDH If I did this to my enemies commander, would be be able to play it?

This doesn't have anything to do with your opponents.
