Why can't I update my needed or post lists to the forum, when I do all it says is "hmm something went wrong" anyone else having problems?

Had the same problem. With me it turned out to be a corrupted entry (likely) in one of the cards. Made backup, then proceeded to remove cards one by one until the error disappeared. With me, it was the last card in my trade binder. Was {skirk prospector} EvG in my case.

EDIT: before you go around with trial and error, I tested it first by deleting trade binder ( after backing it up) and putting a sole island in. If that works, it's likely something in the binder.

NP. I struggled with it myself for a week, until I sent a feedback form detailing my problem. Figured I'd share my knowledge :)
Maybe it's still a good thing to report it, as each report can help Piotr find the bug.
Question Piotr asked me as well: did you use drag & drop for sorting?
