Title: Pinger and deathtouch\lifelink
Post by: An Angry Fatman on May 24, 2015, 07:33:38 PM
a {stun sniper} on the field that was given deathtouch and lifelink. Let's say through {vault of the archangel}. Then the sniper pings a creature, would one life be gained? Would it be lethal damage?

702.2c (http://imtgapp.com/forum/index.php?action=imtg;area=rule;number=702.2c): A creature with toughness greater than 0 that's been dealt damage by a source with deathtouch since the last time state-based actions were checked is destroyed as a state-based action. See rule 704.

So, yes. Even if not combat damage, the creature is destroyed.

702.15b (http://imtgapp.com/forum/index.php?action=imtg;area=rule;number=702.15b): Damage dealt by a source with lifelink causes that source's controller, or its owner if it has no controller, to gain that much life (in addition to any other results that damage causes). See rule 119.3.

And you gain 1 life as the creature deals damage.
