Title: Tribal
Post by: Crossed on May 23, 2015, 10:30:42 PM
I've looked around and can't understand tribal instants. Are they creatures? Can you counter them as if they were creatures? Can you only interact/target permanents that share the tribal subtype. And other info and rulings would also be helpful please.

Tribal is nothing more than a card type that allows non-creature cards to have creature types.  This allows you to interact with them in ways that care about creature types, such as returning a {Tarfire} to your hand using {Boggart Birth Rite} or {Wort, Boggart Auntie} or finding a {Merrow Commerce} with a {Merrow Harbinger}.  In every other way, they function exactly like the normally would if it didn't have the tribal and creature typing, they just have the added bonus of interacting with cards that care about cards having creature types.
