Title: Defensive Formation
Post by: Avodroc13 on May 20, 2015, 06:40:31 PM
Can someone please explain how {Defensive Formation} works? If I have a flying creature and my opponent does not, can he assign my combat damage to his non-flyer? I don't fully understand how it works. (The enchantment is on my opponent's side of the field.)

It doesn't allow you to change how blocks are done, only how creatures assign damage to creatures they are blocking or blocked by.  This is mostly only relevant for multi-blocking and trample.

Okay, say you have Formation out. Your opponent swings with his {Griselbrand}. You have a generic flying/deathtouch bro (say, {Vampire Nighthawk}) and a {Storm Crow}. Throw in a bunch of tokens for good measure. Grizzle mah nizzle swings, your bros block him. Formation says "You can make Snoop Dogg there put his 7 points on the Storm Crow, and whatever else, letting him die to Nighthawk with Nighthawk living."

Now, Grizzle would be an idiot for killing the mighty Storm Crow, but that's neither here nor there

That explanation is absolutely beautiful. +1
