Title: GP Fees getting stupid?
Post by: MuggyWuggy on May 06, 2015, 03:59:00 PM
So when I got into magic competitive around THS/RTR standard, I went to a few scg and gp events. Registration for scg was under $30 and the GP was $40

This last GPLA was $50. Last scg open was $50....

GPSD: it's $60 prereg and $70 after June 1st

Wtf wizards and TOs? Why the inflation? Prizing hasn't gotten better, we still get a crappy mat and crappy tokens. There are no BREAKS scheduled at these events either.

Magics producers seem to be getting greedy.

How much are large tournament and GP fees in your area? Do you feel any improvements with these costing more? I feel less likely to want to go if I'm paying $60 to possibly lose early due to mana screw or bad matchup game 1.
Rather do side events all day or infinite constructed bracelet

Going to GP Atlantic City this weekend and registration is 60. With travel/hotel fees its 200 before you get in the door, not including food. Expensive yeah, but Magic is expensive.

Wizards is screwing over TO by taking away judge promos at gp so to have to pay judges more so they charge more
