How's nighthowler treating you with the current meta being so spell heavy rather than creature heavy due to control?

Well, it's role is sometimes to protect the King Macar. I always resolve it with it at least being a 4/4 due to me killing things.

Any comments for the deck itself? Budget improvements? I can't afford {Thoughtsieze} or {Hero's Downfall} which is why I don't have any here.
You have {Mind Rot}, {Duress}, {Despise} and {Rakshasa's Secret}. That feels like too much discard. Drop the {Mind Rot}, finish up the {Duress} and {Despise} playsets and the {Murderous Cut} playset. Then I'd probably add in another {Read the Bones}.
I feel like some number of {Crux of Fate} and {Perilous Vault} is needed.
Your creature decisions seem unusual to me. Why are you running {mardu shadowspear} and {bloodsoaked champion} in a non aggro deck? I don't see any synergies for them in the whole deck. With all this discard I would be running {waste not}. And the obvious finisher (non budget) is {tasigur, the golden fang}.

If you want budget {Gurmag Angler} instead of Silumgars necklace aka Tasigur
Also, if you're not gonna run waste nots, as someone already mentioned previously you do have a lot of discard cards I would drop some of them and bump up your read the bones to 2-3 and add in either drown in sorrow or bile blights to control the board, nothing worse than a Fleecemane lion hitting the board and you have nothing to kill it before it becomes monstrous
Other cards to think about {foul-tongue invocation} {damnable pact} fetches to fill graveyard up for the delve cards {Lilianna Vess} {spring leaf drum} also to help with king mascaras ability, tapping him for mana is a lot safer for triggering his ability rather than having to swing when a siege rhino is on the board
