Title: Pillow fort.
Post by: redwolv on April 19, 2015, 02:05:37 PM
So what is the word on pillow fort decks? I have not heard much about them. Are they not as good as other decks? Or just fallen out of style?

Usually you have to have good stuff to protect to make them good. Like, pillow fort planeswalkers is a good style to do. My narset deck is a pretty good pillow fort deck. It stops people from attacking me then plays planeswalkers to take over the game. Blue and white are usually the colors for "pillow forts"

So are they any good? Is there a reason noone seems to play them? Or is it people just want to play other stuff?

From what I've seen, it's actually a pretty popular archetype for newer players, since they tend to prefer sitting back and being left alone while they cast their spells.  Once people catch on to what you're doing, you tend to get targeted pretty quickly.  Maybe it's just something a lot of people grow out of?

{Oloro, Ageless Ascetic} is incredibly popular due to his colors and life gain ability, since you can fill the deck with spells like {Propaganda} and board wipes.

It's actually very good, usually you sit back for a while and progress your board state with stuff like  {Propaganda} /  {Ghostly Prison} Type effects to stop them from alpha striking you, then play either wraths like  {Wrath of God} to stop all creatures. Usually decks that are pillow fort are either enchantment themed, planeswalkers themed, or spells themed. My narset deck is enchantment/planeswalkers themed as she plays them for free!

I can post some of the cards I run if that might help you? What colors were you mainly looking to play? I can help find you a good commander and some recommendations

At least White and Blue, other colors are fine by me after that. Blue and white just seem like they are required. Probably a walker/enchant focus. I hate losing to some janky infinate combo so would perfer to avoid that being my win con.

A friend plays a bant pillow fort which allows heavy enchantments that protect herself while also hex proofing them via  {Privileged Position} and  {Avacyn, Angel of Hope} for indestructible and a commander of  {Rafiq of the Many} for a wincon once forted

Oloro is great in a lot of cases but Teeg stops Oloro but yes Oloro is generally better
