Title: Killing the true-name
Post by: Crossed on April 16, 2015, 08:38:10 PM
If I were to activate a {wild slash} with ferocious or {skullcrack} targeting a player while {true name nemesis} was on the battlefield, could I deal damage to the true name nemesis if it were to block my creature or if I were to play a red board wipe like {anger of the gods}?

It would seem so, yes. That would get rid of the prevent damage part of the protection ability. You still wouldn't be able to block it though, right? You'd need a damage based board wipe I think.

Skull crack will stop damage prevention portion of Protection

You still can't target it with wild slash or block it with your creature, HOWEVER your damage dealt by anger of the gods doesn't target and is no longer prevented, which will kill (and exile) the nemesis

I'm not targeting anything but the player with the burn spells.i was sure that was the case, however, I wanted clarification on the interaction. My local has tiny tournaments and there are a lot of blue tiny leaders decks running around with true-name because it's just so hard to deal with. Thanks guys.

Also, the only way to enter a combat with a creature you control and true-name is for true-name to block your attacking creature.
