Title: U/W Control
Post by: CMackender195 on April 12, 2015, 08:40:18 PM
Im trying to figure out what creature to run in my U/W control deck. I only want to run a single copy. I'm stuck between Aetherling because of it is versatility or Pearl Lake Ancient because of Flash and Prowess as well as its ability to be a good finisher. If you have an opinion im glad to hear it but just don't tell me "depends on the match up"

You'll probably want to put this somewhere else, but what format is it in?

Ætherling becomes unblockable, and can leave the board for {U}, instead of taking 3 lands with him. I guess PLA works better if you don't want to tap out to use him, but you have to remove all of their blockers, to ever get in a hit with him.

{AEtherling}. It's unkillable (assuming mana) and unblockable. It is inevitable death.

There's a reason {Pearl Lake Anchient} isn't seeing much play with the control decks switching to dragons.

I'm running Suns Champion as my wincon and Narset and Jace Architect of thought as card advantage. Then the other typical dissolves negates mana leaks supreme verdicts and Sphinx Rev.

3 {Celstial Colannade} and 4 {Snapcaster Mages}

Some decks run 3-4 {Restoration Angels} and some number of {Wall of Omens} as a wincon in Modern don't use AEtherling or PLA they are way too slow and not as good as they were in standard.
