Post by: Munchlax on April 12, 2015, 12:24:11 AM
what is the easiest competitive deck (Not Archetype) to pilot? In you people's humble opinion.

If I had to guess, I'd say Modern GR Tron. It really is just counting to seven and dropping a crazy threat, with little interaction or sequencing complexities. But even GR Tron can be difficult to pilot, because there are no real "easy" decks in Magic.

Modern: Burn or Infect, leaning towards burn because there are a few interactions that only a good infect pilot would know

Standard: mono red. Not saying it's easy but it's easier. If someone wants to make the point of UW heroic I will argue to my death that that deck will only really work with a competent pilot.

Legacy: .love. I dunno I've played like 3 games. But one time I got to beat a guy who's pretty experienced by rishadan port locking him and playing lots of wastelands and I was playing DnT but it's probably not that deck.

In legacy manaless dredge is super easy. Its basically autopilot. In most matches the biggest decision you will have to make is whether or not to reanimate ichorid and what to name with cabal therapy. It was my first legacy deck and i found i could pretty much play with my hand face up most of the time. Its not very interactive at all.

Standard: Maybe Abzan midrange in my opinion. That deck curves very well, you don't even have to think about a lot of it.

Well what really makes a deck comptetative is the player and how well they know their deck and how much practice they have with it. There is no real champion amongst decks unless there is something completely broken. Even then, if you and your opponent run exactly the same deck list but your opponent has less experience than you, you are most likely going to win.

Unless you're unlucky, but that's uncontrollable

Lol apparently someone doesn't agree wth me. I got negged. Come on, let's talk it out! I really think this decks curve is bonkers, and besides land drops, the play is usually pretty easy.

I didn't neg, but I feel like this is totally wrong. There are so many different options you have, that choosing the wrong one puts you in a bad spot. You have to know which spells will let you stabilize. Also the curve isn't too insane, seeing as it starts at 3 and goes up to 4, then you have a tasigur.
