Title: Spell/ability counter

So i was playing a game today and somebody played a card that made it so that creatures he controlled could not be targetted by blue or black spells, so would it protect his creatures if they were being targetted by {ojutai, soul of winter}'s ability?

No spells and abilities are different things and it would have to say spells and abilities to work on both.

Assuming this is {Autumn's Veil}.  Particle is correct.  Spells are not abilities, and abilities are not spells.
