Title: Sliver swarm
Post by: Kaylesh on March 20, 2015, 03:19:30 PM
Another game mode based on Zombie horde: Sliver swarm.
Piloting this deck is the old {Sliver Queen} pooping out tokens while new slivers bolster the token. Can you prevent being overrun??
Suggestions on game mechanics and slivers to add very welcome!

I like this idea, but how would we be playing it? Like someone is playing the deck themselves with the objective to defeat the other opponents, or like a "sentient" deck that everyone is facing kind of like the "Face the Hydra" from Theros was?

Pretty much like face the hydra type play. No worries about casting costs, just flip the top card and play it, use queens ability and attack. Thinking of making queen indestructible and hexproof for as long as she controls slivers, like the Defeat a God theme deck. Otherwise one {oblivion ring} would end it..

This sounds sweet!

So the overall objective is to kill the queen then? If so then, hexproof and indestructible won't do a lot to cards like {Innocent Blood}. I play a modified version of "Face the Hydra" with my playgroup because we play casual/vintage so a lot of infinite combos can happen (even though most of us don't use em when we do play the Hydra). So even if the queen is never dealt with I can gain 10^100 life and just sit there until the sliver deck runs out of cards. So maybe set up some baseline rules to begin with.

A good baseline rule for this would be Gorzo's rule #1: "my friend, don't be a jerk". Of course you can cheat your way to a win by janky infinite life combos. But the idea is to do something different and most of all have FUN. Is it really fun if by turn 3 you know you are untouchable?
On the ruling if the sliver queen, I could even borrow the rule from Xenagos of the defeat a god deck: it can't leave the field if there are any revelers in play. Even a wrath of god would bounce of him.
