Title: Charbelching
Post by: Redrighthand on March 07, 2015, 12:36:33 AM
a friend of mine runs {goblin charbelcher} in his landless artifact deck.  Does this actually work?  Everytime he activates it, it runs through his entire deck and then he puts it all back together?  Is there a problem with the "until you reveal a land" clause never being fulfilled?

From gatherer discussion:

And according to level 4 judge Rune Horvik (as can be seen at
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp ily/rh92):

If you don't have any lands in your library you reveal all the cards
left in the library, then the Charbelcher deals 1 damage for each
revealed card.

Even if one part of an effect fails, the other parts will try to do as
much as possible. Revealing the land is just a stop condition, it's not
a requirement to deal damage (it doesn't say "if you reveal a land..." ).

Apperently the end of your deck is a stop condition as well.

Damage = the number of cards in your library sounds good to me...

Which is why i don't understand why the legacy charbelcher decks run 1 land.  Just run 0 for crying out loud!  You don't need it!
Just copy with Kurkesh. after you reveal the land put it back as last card :p that will likely do the trick.

What charbelcher lists run kurkesh?

Not a clue. Maybe they should.
I am not competitive enough to check lists tbh. I try to invent my own.

I'm ultra competitive, and I refuse to check lists. I don't copy other people's decks. I build my own and win or lose, I played with my own creation.

I spark my own ideas and always build my own list. I do look at other lists for {Inspiration} and of course I come up with ideas that are "mainstream" (I hunted down 4 {Gray Merchant of Asphodel} and built a deck out of it before I knew what top 8 was.)

Sometimes I like building decks more than playing.
