Finally. After an extended period of time I have finally figured out a way too many card combo to make sure your Planeswalker is there to stay!
Disclaimer: this is not fool proof, board wipes and mass exile are a thing.
Planeswalker of your choice + {Mycosyth Lattice} OR {Liquidmetal Coating}
This makes your Walker an artifact for step two.
{Ensoul Artifact} (pro tip: if you use {Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas} he can just -1 and target himself. And his ult ultra synergies with {Mycosyth Lattice})
This makes your Planeswalker an artifact creature. If you went {Liquidmetal Coating} equip with a {Silverskin Armour} now!
{Heart of Light}/{Inviolability}
Your Planeswalker cannot take damage. Creature or burn. This works unlike {Indestructibility} because indestructible doesn't prevent damage. It just means the permanent doesn't care. However Planeswalkers still care because of loyalty counters. That problem is fixed.
But your Planeswalker dies to {Hero's Downfall} and {Borehole} and {insert situational removal because you're one of those annoying people that points out flaws that everyone knows about}.
Slap on a {Darksteel Plate}/{Indestructibility}!
But {Utter End} and {Unmake} and...
{Swiftfoot Boots}/{Lightning Greaves}
But {Perilous Vault}!
{Squelch}
But any of the various combo pieces could be removed individually and it - {STiFlU}
But now you're - {STiFlU} 👿

Lmfao dude... a {void snare} would break it
He put on boots so he couldn't be targeted.
{Void Snare} targeting {Ensoul Atrifact}.
I know that any artifact, enchantment or mass exile effect would stop it. But that didn't stop me from trying!
Why not just use {Soul of New Phyrexia} ?

Thing is, indestructible does not stop your walker from dying from having 0 loyalty. He will still be put in gy as a state-based action.
Wouldn't {spectra ward} be better than the pro damage and boots? Better only meaning fewer card requirements :).
Ahh.. It misses colorless damage
Not like anybody is slinging around {Ghostfire} these days. Otherwise it's not a horrible backup plan.
True. And no one is using Ugin.

He's seeing way more play then {Ghostfire}. Though if all the protection from red stuff keeps shutting down burn in modern they might be wise to add it.
