Title: The Most Legendary Game
Post by: LinkCelestrial on March 06, 2015, 12:04:03 AM
My deck list is on here. Named Superfriends under Modern.

Bant Superfriends vs Izzet Storm

Game one: he started with a {Thought Scour}. I guessed Storm and he said "idk man". His next card was a {Pyromancer's Ascension} so I knew for sure. I tapped out for a {Kiora, the Crashing Wave} on turn four and he went off. {Grapeshot} for 20. This was my bad for tapping down instead of saving mana for a {Dawn Charm}.

I boarded out all my {Fog} effects except for {Dawn Charm}. In {Leyline of Sanctity}, {Dispel} and a single {Naturalize}. (Looking back less {Dispel} more {Naturalize}.)

Game two: I had a {Leyline of Sanctity} in my opening hand and he conceded, having forgotten to sideboard in {Empty the Warrens}.

Game three: I mulliganed to 6 and a {Leyline of Sanctity}. Nothing much happened in the first few turns. He shocked and fetched a small chunk of his life away and started on a {Goblin Electromancer} beat down plan.

A couple of turns later he starts to build towards Storm but I stop the count at 3 by {Dispel}ing a {Manamorphose}.

He doubles up on the {Goblin Electromancer} beat down plan. I tap down for a {Doubling Season} and he decides to Storm. He {Empty the Warrens} for 13 Storm with a {Pyromancer's Ascension} on the board. I debate conceding then take a good look at my hand. I have a {Doubling Season} out, a {Dawn Charm}, {Gideon Jura}, {Venser, the Sojourner} and an {Ajani, Mentor of Heroes} in hand. I figure this buys me enough time to not concede.

On my turn I top deck {Leyline of Sanctity} (so help. Much good) drop Ajani Mentor and -8 for 100 life. (Thank you {Doubling Season}!)

He untaps, plays a land and two {Pyromancer's Ascension} then swings for 30. I eat it. 79 life left.

I draw a {Noble Hierarch} and figure it's not worth dropping {Gideon Jura} or {Venser, the Sojourner} to have them get killed by a swarm of goblins. I drop the {Noble Hierarch} and swing for 1 with my {Birds of Paradise}. Bringing him to 8 thanks to shocks, fetches, and about 4 castings of {Gixtian Probe}.

He draws, casts {Thought Scour} then swings 30. 49 life left.

I draw {Kiora, the Crashing Wave}. I realize I can ult her next turn if she lives that long. Thanks to my mana dorks and {Dawn Charm} I plan for it.

He untaps, land, swings 5 at Kiora 25 at me. I {Dawn Charm} and he passes.

I draw a land, play it, ult Kiora, then drop and +2 {Gideon Jura} so he eats the next attack and my opponent is tapped down for the two Kraken tokens.

He untaps, draws, swings 30 at Gideon who dies. He then starts a {Past in Flames} Storm. I tell him he has to kill me. He says he'll chump the Krakens and swing lethal. I reveal {Venser, the Sojourner} from my hand. He concedes.

That was a seriously insane game. The resilience and power of my Bant Superfriends deck never stops amazing me. And all of this without a single infinite combo. xD

Anybody else had a game with such insane power levels? I'd live to hear about it.

So a while ago, about a month after I started playing My Hulk deck competitively, I ran intoBloom Titan.

Game one
He titaned turn 1, forgot to grab slayers stronghold, I survived into my t3 where at the beginning of turn my board state was three untapped lands, a {Viscera Seer}, and an Ornithopter. He {Pact of Negation}'s my {Footsteps of the Goryo}. So I'm now forced to wait a turn. Chump out, now at 2 life. Draw. {Footsteps of the Goryo V2} cast it again. Get hulk. I go to viscera seer him away but he responds by {Slaughter Pacting} my seer with in response sacs the hulk. I run through and grab the needed stuff to win. I got it.

Game two
He conceded

This is one of a total of five wins against Bloom Titan I've ever had

Crazy. I've still never played against Bloom Titan (thankfully).

To be fair dawn charm wouldn't have done anything really

Yea was gonna say that. Countering a spell with storm won't counter the storm trigger. You'll prevent one grapeshot from resolving but not the rest. Need {flusterstorm}.

You know, that completely Modern legal counterspell. ;)

I was unaware of this. It's also kinda ridiculous. If you counter a Storm spell you just get rid of the original copy and it still goes off? Guess I need {Counterflux} but I'm not splashing red. Just board in {Leyline of Sanctity} next time I guess. Thanks for the info guys.
