I am currently in the process of building a control deck. Blue and black. But I'm on a budget. Also it's standard only (duh).
{vapor snag}
{mana leak}
{go for the throat}
{doom blade}
{dissipate} (as a hard counter for drawn out games)
If you find yourself with some more money, {black sun's zenith} as a board clear and sideboard {disperse} if you find yourself with too many permanents you can't deal with, mana leak or dissipate them on the way back out. {mental misstep} for white weenies.
{geth's verdict} {negate} I personally like {carnifex demon} with {glistening oil} because that allows for a lot of -1/-1 and a faster kill :D
{Curse of Death's Hold} is rather costly though, its at best a turn 5 drop, and you'll be tapped out for anything control related. Maybe for killing token decks, but mostly any token deck will be running {Honor of the Pure}, it's kind of a bum draw. {Ratchet Bomb} is better token kill, and {black sun's zenith} (because you can reshuffle it)
I run two {Curse of Death's Hold} and they work like charms, shuts so many decks out.
I'd run about 3 fatties. {Consecrated Sphinx} and {Grave Titan} work great. I run a single Karn and he is great at dealing with protection and resolved artifacts.
Sounds like something I've never considered. I've never encountered a deck running it that didn't have {curse of misfortunes}. Let me know how it works
You could build the U/B mill deck....depending on how its built it could be a pretty low cost deck I think
I'll post my deck I've topped with it at fnms
