Title: Battlefield thaumaturge
Post by: Oldschoolmtgnoob on March 01, 2015, 06:06:01 PM
i have {battlefield thaumaturge} out and cast {pyrotechnics}. Can I choose to do zero damage to a target? I'm looking to target 3 creatures for zero damage and do all four to one target, so it will reduce the cost of the spell to {R}. Maybe even target my own to trigger heroic! Can it work that way??

From gatherer:
11/24/2014   The number of targets chosen for Pyrotechnics must be at least one and at most four. You choose how the damage is divided as you cast the spell, not as it resolves. Each target must be assigned at least 1 damage.

That's weird, the local judge told me I could target a {frostwalker} for 0 to kill it. Guess I'll have to let him know of this. Too bad this was at the prerelease... I feel kinda bad about it :P
