Toshiro was also called Toshi
"The first known member of the Clan was the blind Toshiro Umezawa, Toshi for short."

Note the grandmaster says whenever you cast an instant or sorcery fron your hand...
Doesn't fly with toshi.

There are some white ones that do. And you could play BWR and have some interesting things to play

Which black instant deals damage?

Besides {Taste of blood} and the two {sorin's thirst}.. I wouldn't understand too much of a use for the two haha

{Pharika's Cure}, there's one that's {2}{B} for the same thing.  {Sorin's Vengeance}. There are a few more too.

The vampire series could gain something with lifelink, agreed. And go bwr as suggested would help. Plenty of white damaging instants possible too, like {sandblast}.

EDIT: would the creature be still blocking by the time sandblast resolves, considering normal combat damage?? I forgot if prio passes after damage but before eoc.

EDIT2: 510.4. (http://imtgapp.com/forum/index.php?action=imtg;area=rule;number=510.4.): Fourth, the active player gets priority. Players may cast spells and activate abilities.

Still a blocking  or attacking creature.

The attacking creature is still considered blocked, so he won't deal damage to the player unless he has trample. That's what's makes {ride down} so good.

True. I was thinking of white uses for lifelink spells. Most damaging white spells are vs attacking or blocking creatures.

In fact: in order for toshi to trigger. Combat dmg must have already been dealt. Or at least, a creature must have been killed. Assuming normal combat, this is after dmg is assigned.
