Title: Hells caretaker/ haste and purphuros
Post by: blabla on February 28, 2015, 08:51:34 PM
ok, so if i have a  {Hammer of Purphoros} Out and  {Purphoros, God of the Forge} With  {Hell's Caretaker}, can i use hells caretaker's ability, target itself, and repeat for an instant win?

I think so. However I'm skeptical because of the upkeep timing.

Nope.  Targets have to be declared before costs are paid.

2x {Hell's Caretaker}? That'll work unless it's EDH.

No it will have summoning sickness when it returns.

Never mind missed the hammer that gives it haste.

A mass haste card like the hammer and two hells caretakers will do what you want

This is still not correct as per what {{remillo}} said. Since you need to declare targets before you pay the cost of sacrificing the 2nd caretaker isn't in the yard in time to target it with the ability.

I think he means having one in yard already and one in play

So you can activate it once. But as soon as it has resolved, you'll have two still on the field. Then it won't work.

One in the yard one on the field. Sac ability on stack targeting second one. Resolves second one of field with haste. Rinse repeat
