If I {food chain} my commander ({marath, will of the wild}),get the mana, and still send him to the command zone? And I just noticed that the oracle text says "any one color".

Unless your commander is going to your hand or into your library it will go to the command zone unless you choose to keep it in the exiled/graveyard zone

I assumed it was where the commander would go. The other question could be if food chain is legal in his deck which it is because it says any one color. The rule goes that if a spell or permanent attempts to produce any colored mana that is not in your commander's colors it defaults to colorless. So if you have a blue commander and you have a {Manalith} In the deck it will only produce blue or colorless mana.
I was making sure that I would still get the mana, even though he isn't going to the exile zone.

Upon resolution the ability checks and sees that you exiled the commander, which you did. Then after its exiled you can but it in the command zone
