I've decided to start an "insurance program" to help combat thieves. This is just the rough outline, pm me for more info.
I charge 3.5% (that value isn't set in stone though) of the TCG Mid price (to keep things easy for everyone)
Both parties send to me. As soon as I receive one part it immediately gets sent out to the correct person. The reason you send to me is so people can't lie and say the other person never sent when they really did and scam me. Thus, it's faster than the middleman service because there is no wait time for the other person's stuff to get to me.
If you send your end, you will get your end of the trade, regardless of if the other person sends or not. If I have not received their end after 2 weeks (barring a reasonable excuse like a major snowstorm shut down the postal system for half of the US) I will buy the cards you are owed and have them shipped to you. I will then do reconnaissance on the scammer and send the police to their door, and add their address to the untrustworthy list, AND subscribe them to a bill me later gay porn magazine (joking on that last one muggy). ;)
If all goes well, yes I would make money. However, I am risking losing money if someone does try and scam me and i can't get them to pay up. All in all, I feel a 3.5% fee would be a reasonable amount to charge for me to put my money on the line.
If you do not want this, you don't have to. It's just an additional option to the middle man service. The differences between the two are with this, you get your cards faster, and you are guaranteed to get the cards agreed upon. The middle man service IS free, so it's up to you to decide which one you want to do.
So this is the same as the middle man insurance (which is *FREE*), except instead of getting they're cards returned, they get their end on the off chance that the other person scams them, for the cost of 3.5%? I'm not too sure how different this is from the middleman service, to be honest.
Aww, nice guys tays!
So person a has force, person b has JTMS. They trade person a never sends force. You get force send it to them, do you send their end (the jace) back too or do you hang on to it? If you hold on to it then there's little to no advantage in using this over middle man service. But at that point you'd start getting scammed by this system. One person would claim to be two, send jace and not force, receive jace and a force 2 weeks later.

Good point.
This is a scam from taysby. He is not a legitimate insurance company and is scheming to slowly profit from you.
We mods do this for free and it is called the middle man process.
PM us any time to have you help trade, we are here to help you trade successfully.
Occasionally people gift us for our service, yet nothing is required. I've helped tons of new users feel secure trading and I do not mind middle manning at all. Sure it takes a little bit of time; but its better to be secure.
I recommend both traders to send enough for tracking postage ($3) if both parties do this with the middle man: things come faster and with complete peace of mind.
I encourage this for any trade over $20, always ask yourself: can I afford to lose these cards? $3 goes a long way for a large trade. So really consider using a middle man in your region.
Once again we do what taysby is offering for free: it's called middle man.
Tell me more about buying gold.

Let's at least hear him out Muggy.
Posting gorbupdates
I kinda get what he's saying, like you get the card your want regardless of what happens because he'll just buy the other guys end and send it if he gets screwed. But in return he wants a percentage. So if a majority of these trades go through he makes a profit, unless the bad ones are like really huge deficits. Although the flaw someone already mentioned is someone making two accounts, sending one to one adress and another to another and having him pick up the other side and they keep both cards. But I dunno. If you'd trade a high enough value card and a percentage of it for a card you need that bad why not just put that money and cash value card towards buying the card, it's not as if you can't trade cards in to tcgplayer
Once again. We mods middle man for free.
Good luck. But all I see is you getting screwed. I don't know about you but to me time is money. And this will take a bunch of time for the first scam.

Not trying to sound like a d_ck, but you may want to edit your business plan before you post it and proof read it. Yea I know this is just a small forum but you want to look professional when your trying to charge for something. (I know I'm not the best in spelling or grammar but I'm not trying to charge people on her for a service). Just a suggestion to learn from when you go forward. Would hate to see you do that on an actual application that counted.

I got a question: So if I send Card A and Person B doesnt send Card B, you will buy and send me Card B. Do keep Card A, or do you send it to Person B?
One more question about a possible flaw. Who scams when they use a middleman service?
Usually if someone delays their end in middle man I let the other party know that their trade is being delayed by the other party.
I let people know I have recieved their cards and when they are being sent. Any discrepancies such as quality of the card are considered (which is why I ask for the enclosed envelopes to be unsealed so I can check the cards)
I've had to do this for people before and they appreciate not getting a water damaged card at TCG mid trade value.
So once again: middlemen do this for free, don't be afraid to ask a mod, we are here to help the community.
But it's not called middle man(; But I'm here to find out how you put red text. ^_^
I'll leave this thread alone after this post,
Usually I don't concern myself with the internal affairs of imtg... Usually.. Until I go poking my nose around in obviously heated threads, if I feel I can bring a perspective (whether I personally agree or not) to the matter I speak up, but more often than not I don't.
My only reason for doing so is; I'll say it doesn't seem to me that Taysbys methods of conversation, swaying influence in his direction, or his general stance of uncompromising fortitude in his own opinions, gain him a lot of popularity. He is however, honest and true to himself. He is a trusted trader.
So question is this. Not do we buy into his idea, because no one should just do anything asked of them just because he may be a good person. (he should work on his business plan [solidify it before presentation] and his salesmanship) But rather question do you believe Taysby is a fair and honest person, even if his plan be crap (and it likely is) is it worth giving him this much proverbial run around about his presentation. I mean he has been here a while and whatnot. I guess I feel he may have semi good intentions (while trying to benefit himself also which is fair) but I mean we already have a better alternative, let it go re-evaluate and better luck next time.
I heard a wise man say once, "everyone knows 50%-70% of all new businesses fail. To me that made it so much easier, just keep starting businesses until I succeed! Everyone thought I was crazy when I had 5 failing businesses but my 7th one was so profitable that it paid for my 8th 9th and 10th which all pay me to live free of the worries of finances. So I say fail until you succeed!"

Between dirty and Taysby posts I am satisfied, letting devils advocate role pass and walking away :)
But what fun is that.
