Title: Exiling a Manifested Spell
Post by: Deebiia on February 24, 2015, 05:47:01 PM
Out of curiosity, how is this dealt with? If I use, say, {Mastery of the Unseen}'s ability to manifest the top card of my library-- for this instance we will say I manifest {Shock}, then use like {Cloudshift} on the manifested card since its technically a creature (right?), then how does the card come back? Does it come back as a manifested 2/2 yet, or does the spell go off? Or is it just a fizzled spell on the table? Since I really want to try out this "Manifest" ability in a deck I wanna sorta find a way to abuse it before I do any trading or purchases.

It will be exiled face-up and remain in exile.

This was talked about recently

A spell will not return, only a permanent an return.

Once the manifested spell reaches exile, it is revealed, and upon checking for return it is not a (creature, land, artifact, aura, enchantment) and cannot ETB.

That makes sense, but as one who does not know the in-depth rules very well I wanted to make sure. Thanks a ton. Would there be a way to get around this in any way?

Planeswalkers can etb as well.

Wait. I think this means I need to figure out a way to add {Omniscience} to my Emmy Manifest deck.

I recently built a deck that is Jeskai flicker
It uses {Rageform} {Cloudform} {Lightform} To manifest things then I {Cloudshift} {Flicker}{Venser, the Sojourner} them individually or {Legion's Initiative} Them en masse.

Fun part about venser is he can target the 'forms or I can bounce a face down form so that when they come back they manifest a new card, great way to split up a form/form manifestation

Can I see a list?

I totally skipped over the "permanents will come back" part. Holy hell..... That is insane! Omniscience would be freakin' epic to do! Now if I only had some... or even had a deck idea to back it up...

It works like they've said: Thing that can physically enter the battlefield (so, Permanent cards) will do so normally, and an Aura will come in attached to a valid object.  Instants and Sorceries will just remain exiled since they can't exist on the battlefield face-up.

But yeah, like Llama, I have a {Brago, King Eternal} deck built around Manifesting and blinking for value.

I am totally revamping my {Roon of the Hidden Realm} EDH deck. This is gonna be awesome. If only {Brainstorm} was modern legal...then we'd have a better shot at a consistent combo deck.  *sighs*
