Can a life loss effect be used to remove loyalty counters from a Planeswalker? For example, could a {bump in the night} kill {Garruk wildspeaker}?

Nope, damage may be redirected, but life loss never can
*noncombat damage.
So if you {lightning bolt} the opponent you can remove counters from walkers, but {bump in the night} cannot do that.

On the other hand, {bump in the night} can win you the game with {Ali from Cairo} on the field, while {lightning bolt} needs a follow up. (If course you bolt Ali, not the player)

Stranger negs have happened. I got thumbed down for calling {scathed zombies} as favorite card for its epic flavor text.
