Title: Lands and colorless rule
Post by: Codester1991 on February 06, 2015, 12:11:54 AM
while reading the rules for "all is dust" I noticed that it stated since lands have no mama cost they are considered "colorless" and cannot be targeted. If this Is true, ppl who are running colorless EDH decks should be allowed(contrary to popular belief) to run basic lands as a land source rather than the expensive lands required to make the entire deck colorless.

If anyone has any reason to believe this is untrue let me know, but look up "All is Dust" prior and read the rulings for the card and let me know what you think! Thanks.

Lands are colorless permanents but EDH uses a property of cards called "color identity." A card's color identity includes the colors of the card's mana cost, any text on the card giving the card a color (see {Dryad Arbor}), and any mana symbols on the card. Since basic lands all have an assumed (written out on very old lands) text of "{T}: Add (color) to your mana pool," the "color identity" of a basic land is the color it taps for even though the card is colorless.

I see, well glad that's cleared up 😀
