Title: Iona + Swords to Plowshares
Post by: Falcon182 on January 20, 2015, 12:03:34 PM
Can I respond to an  {Iona, Shield of Emeria} choosing white entering the battlefield by casting  {Swords to Plowshares} on the Iona?

Never mind read the rulings. That's lame.

Is her third ability an example of a static ability?

The more important part is that her second ability (the choosing a color) is a replacement effect.  There's no time between when she resolves, the color is chosen and she's on the battlefield and applying her third ability where you'd be able to remove her with a spell of the chosen color.

But you realize she would be a significantly worse card if you could respond to her choice of color.

Play it if you've got it.

Id think it would be quite funny to call white if you're running Iona

Could you explain that one? It limits only your opponents.

Yeah, it's an a-symmetrical effect. So powerful.
