So Modern just got pooped on Treasure Cruise and Birthing Pod are now banned and also Treasure Cruise is banned in Legacy and is restricted in Vintage pretty crazy stuff
Pod ban surprised me.
Time to take apart my cruise burn deck Considering it's not legal in any format
I wish I speculated harder on GGT now 😔 Pod ban has been talked about and now that they were shifting away from combo I think Wotc felt justified.

Anyone else think that the {Dredgevine} just got really good

Stinkweed Imp does the same thing. Dredgevine is still going to be tier 2 or 3, GGT was only on there because Wizards screwed up years ago

Oh. It's a deck that I really want to be good because I have the peices to it and it just hasn't gotten there yet so I got excited
Lol almost went to put together a pod deck. Guess I'm gonna nix that.
I'm shocked that {Birthing Pod} is banned. It hasn't really felt like that powerful of a deck to me, I mean I've played it a few times and managed to beat it a small amount of those times. I understand the meta call though. So I guess it's justifiable. Not going to miss it.
They say that {Treasure Cruise} and {Dig Through Time} are banned in Modern cause they're almost the same thing. Then they don't ban or restrict them in Vintage and Legacy. SMH.
How the hell did {Jeskai Ascendancy} and {Glittering Wish} evade a ban?! They weren't even addressed.
On a very, very happy note {Golgari Grave-Troll} is unbanned. My retracimator deck was already going to go through a huge overhaul. I expect it to do very well on Untap when I'm done fixing it up.
TC was banned in legacy
I think dig is more powerful but double blue makes it not as splash able, which makes it less overpowered I guess.

What format?
In Modern, Dig and Cruise could be (and have been used) interchangeably by many decks, but the biggest offender (Delver) might not have used DTT to the same extent they used TC.
In Legacy, the second blue is huge, and RUG Delver will prey on UR Delver if it tries to us DTT. The only deck really using DTT is Miracles and it is kind of non-bo, so it isn't something to be afraid of.
Vintage: IDK, but I would guess that the second mana on DTT is extremely relevant, but because of the Restricted List the "best 2 of 7" is stronger.

I'm talking legacy.

Because Ascendancy turned out to not be good enough. It's a powerful card, but it's not Treasure Cruise.
And Glittering Wish? That card shouldn't be banned to nerf Ascendancy decks. It's actually an interesting card that has potential. Jeskai Ascendancy, on the other hand, is nothing but a combo card.
But now that Cruise and Dig are gone, Ascendancy won't be as powerful.
😂😂😂😂😂
TC = Power level of black lotus

We can say we lived through the reprint of {Ancestral Recall}. And as a common!

I see. I thought they'd ban {Glittering Wish} because it's an enabler as opposed to destroying a whole archtype. Didn't they have a thing about how that's what they were going to do from now on?

I worded that poorly, why did they ban/restrict TC and not DTT for Legacy/Vintage when they had reasoning on both for Modern?

The logic doesn't really cross over as the formats get older. The difference between {U} and {U}{U} is a lot larger in the older formats. DTT sees play but not in the same way TC is an auto include for any blue deck.

The filtering DTT provides is great for Combo decks when you're looking for specific pieces. It digs deep and grabs you two cards from a selection. Cruise saw play because it provides insane, raw card advantage for the measly price of U. The difference is the decks they go in. Aggro/Tempo (Delver) can afford to play Cruise to get raw advantage for U, because it doesn't necessarily care about the card Quality, only the Quantity (not to mention two mana is much more precious than one). It can't afford to play Dig because it grabs one less card for one more mana, even if it's at Instant Speed. Combo/Control would rather play DTT because it goes for Quality and digs for combo pieces. In Legacy, TC and DTT are as different as Jace the Mind Sculptor and Gaea's Cradle. Both insanely power cards, but pretty bad in the decks the other one goes in.
I was kinda sad about Pod but everything else was fine. Especially Treasure Cruise, I hold a very personal grudge against that stupid card.

I understand what you're saying. Being as I don't play anything other than Modern, Standard and EDH it makes sense.
