Title: GP San Jose
Post by: Raiderrob on January 14, 2015, 05:22:40 PM
Anyone from here going? My friend and I are going, and hopefully playing in the main if we can find a third. I wish this was just a limited and not a team sealed.

Already a thread for this!

From the forums, it's you, me, falcon, and possibly muggy. A good amount from my lgs is showing up. Other people include Marshal Sutcliffe, Kenji igashira, and possibly Marcel from brainstorm brewery.

Have you guys ever done team sealed? Can you give me a run down of how it works? I get 12 packs, and build 3 decks, but I've never done s big tournament before.

The short version: you have a shared sealed pool to build 3  40 card decks. Once deck building is complete, you get paired up against other three player teams. Teams usually strategize by putting the strongest or fastest player in the middle, because other team members can advise during the games. Each player matchup goes best of 3, but the final score that matters is how the team match goes.

If player A from team 1 beats player A from Team 2, Team 1 leads 1-0.  Team 2 wins the player B slot 2-0, so the match is tied 1-1, and the final match is the tiebreaker. Usually if the first two matches get decided in one team's favor, the third match just ends abruptly.

Does the team get to keep the cards the open in their pool?

You open a pol, register it (write down all the cards) and pass it to someone else. Usually like 2 down and one across.

Day one was a blast! We drafted, bought a few cards, and really just took everything in. I'm up early ready to go crush the main, and hopefully make day 2.

Met falcon and rob, both nice guys! Team UDKC (my team) went 0-2-1 drop from mana screws n stuff, not sure why Rob's team (IMTG splashing Brainstorm Brewery?) was 0-3-1 last I checked.

We ended up 3-5-1. Our pool was SUPER removal light. I think we had 7 pieces between three decks. No sandblasts, smite, valorus stance, or bathe in dragonfire in the whole pool! It was cool to meet falcon and truffle, and it was a blast teaming up with Marcel from Brainstorm Brewery! Amazing frickin weekend!
