Title: The books
Post by: Jcollinzz on January 08, 2015, 11:58:56 PM
considering reading the books for Magic the gathering.  A few questions before I do tho.  Are they worth reading and what book should I start with?

I've always been a fan of the Brother's War and the rest of the Artifacts cycle.  They tell one of the oldest stories in Magic: the fight between Urza and Mishra, the ravaging of Dominaria and the start of Urza's struggle with Phyrexia.  The second book in the cycle, Planeswalker, is actually pretty dull, but it's worth reading for the Lore.  Time Streams and Bloodlines (the last of the cycle) are pretty well written. Just not quite as iconic as the Brother's War.  I've also started reading in to the Weatherlight saga, which is pretty good, too.

I'm a fan of the older Lore.  I haven't read too many of the newer Novels.  But yeah, the Brother's War is totally worth it.

Must reads
Thran

Mercaidian Mascerade cycle
Invasion cycle
Time spiral cycle

All the books are good
I wasn't a big fan of The quest for Karn though

I totally agree. The books bring so much to the game. For example I was very apathetic towards {Venser, the Sojourner} until I read Quest for Karn. I really like him after reading that because I can understand deeper what the abilities are trying to do.
