Title: Hydras and Manifest
Post by: Destore117 on January 06, 2015, 04:59:17 PM
So I was curious if you get to pay X when you flip a hydra face up and if it gets the counters from doing so? Just seeing if I can understand the whole Manifest thing. So I can have a bleep 2/2 that will become a monster later as though I had paid from my hand? Or does it just flip up and die?

You are referring to {Hooded Hydra}, correct?

Note that when you flip up/unmorph the hydra, it is not entering the battlefield. It has been on the battlefield the whole time. What you do get is five +1/+1 counters. I *believe* that with the way manifest works, you could flip him up for his mana cost, {X}{G}{G}, and you could get a 5/5 {hooded hydra} for GG. I'm waiting for the release notes to make sure I understand that interaction correctly though.

You're correct.  The Hooded Hydra doesn't care how it's turned face-up, only that it's happening.  As for other Hydras, you're out of luck, unless something else adds counters to it.
