Did you all upgrade to the latest version? Any problems
So.... Not well. I didn't know it was out until I saw this post so I went ahead and downloaded the update. But now the database updating that must happen first of all takes forever and then crashes the app. Something similar happened with the last database update and resulted in me losing all of my decks. If that happened this time I'll be very, very sad. And mad. And then I'll cry. And then lose it. And then sleep it off. And then I'll just be frustrated.
Here's to hoping that isn't the case.
In all likelihood your cards and decks will still be there. Since they need to access the database, then if there is a problem with your database they won't show up. Once you fix your database issues your decks should show up again. It has happened to me before.
Although I hope this serves as a reminder of the importance of backing up your stuff too. ;)
Yeah... I kind of don't have a computer to back up to. Died long ago. iPod has been on it's own since. Which is why I was so excited about the Dropbox backup capability.
I hope you're right about the database error though.
MacUser001 please contact me directly via email if you're still having troubles. Your data should be safe, you have automatic backups. Do not reinstall iMtG though, as this would erase those backups.
I've gone ahead and done that, thanks. The issue is still apparent as ever. My time with the functions of the app that don't use the database are limited until the app crashes.
Ok. In the meantime it would be good if you can find a computer to backup to, and upload your crashlogs to iTunes. Without a computer it may be impossible to fix your problem. Is anyone else having issues with the upgrade?
I'm having the same problem, the upgrading process is blocking all the other functions. I have an ipod touch 2g
As far as I'm aware what you're asking is impossible. If I try to backup my iPod to another computer the only way it will let me is if it erases all content. Which would include iMtG and it's backup files... So I may be screwed, huh?
Hmmm. Maybe. Why don't you join the beta. It may take a few days but if we really want it, we can save your data.
That would be fantastic. Thanks, man.
Well the newest beta you pushed out didn't help at all. Same issue.
Try to crash it a few times so I can see your logs. Try Database Update as well.
I can do that. It will crash after a certain time and then hitting the new action button on the forums or trying to view a linked card will kill it.
And you'll be able to view my logs just because I'm on the beta?
When trying the database update it says database updating is already in progress, please wait.
Ok, both of you can upgrade to 1.21.2 BETA and send me your backups via Support and Feedback -> Report a problem.
I've upgraded and emailed to you, with my forum user name in the email. Thanks a lot man.
I haven't got problem with backups, but the upgrading to the last beta version didn't resolve the problem: database is still not accessible.
It wasn't supposed to resolve the problem, it was supposed to allow you to send me your backups, and me to see your crash logs.
This update turned searchin in a pain in the ass. It's freezing and taking too long...
Really? Which device are you using?
The realtime search function is really cool. However there's a problem that occurs once I select the card I want. When I return to card database, the search list will be frozen to the last search entry I made. It gets fixed if I exit back to imtg and access card database again though.
I'm using an iPod 3GS btw.
This is a known issue that you can avoid. Make sure that you close the "keyboard" by clicking Search. If you do this before clicking on the card, you won't have this problem.
Works beautifully now. Thanks for the tip!

I didn't do much with the files you have sent me yet, but in the meantime I've found out that if you connect your device to iTunes with which you haven't synced yet, it will allow you to go to your device, App section, and at the bottom you will find iMtG and will be able to save all your data on the PC, and then put it back after reinstallation - even if you won't sync with that iTunes.
Really? Well I know of a friend or two who would let me use their computer to do this. Thanks.
I did what you suggested; back up the files through someone else's computer. Then I deleted the app and reinstalled the App Store version. The app ran without crashing and had an intact database. I then uploaded those files I had on to my Dropbox account in a folder named iMtG and then went to the app to restore from Dropbox. It worked! For the most part. It's missing a few of the decks I had built but a large part of them are there. My needed list is also a bit different than it should be. But I'll take it. Thanks for the idea!
