I play infect in modern (UG) and am finding that having one of my +4 for G in my opening hand can often win me the game. So, naturally, digging through 3 cards for U seems pretty strong to help me find those. Also, if my opponent has just killed all of my things, it's nice to be able to dig for a threat. Also, lands are important to find in a pinch.
No. The dilute the deck too much, you will get hands with just cantrips and lands and end up losing. If Tom ross does not play serum visions then no one should play serum visions, anyway vitalism probe is better on the mana base, and helps you know if you can go for lethal.

If tom Ross doesn't, neither should you.

Lol, pretty much this. {Gitaxian Probe} is better because it gives you an idea of what your opponent has, so you know what you have to play around. On the other hand, I see your point, but I'm not sure that the tempo loss is worth it.
I'd do a mix of gitaxian probe and serum visions both as a 2 of.
Serum and prove give you same amount of cards In a deck life infect its more important to know their whole hand of 1-7 cards then just the top two cards of your library. The largest deciding factor is that probe costs phyrexian mana.
