Title: Faerie Imposter
Post by: X on December 15, 2014, 03:38:15 PM
If I cast faerie imposter and my opponent casts an instant to kill the creature I'm returning to my hand does it work? My logic is that in order for faerie imposter to come onto the battlefield the creature has already come off of it so it can't be the target of the instant (one that does 5 damage to it) TIA

So pretty much, {Faerie Imposter} hits the board, and then it's triggered ability goes on the stack, and asks you, would you like to sac or bounce? But before you answer, you, and your opponent(s) have a chance to respond. If no responses are made, you choose to bounce the creature. You don't actually reveal which creature is returning until the ability resolves though. Once you choose, your opponent(s) cannot kill the creature being bounced.

But what if he only controls one creature on the battlefield before he casts the Faerie? He plays Faerie, Faeries ability goes on stack, opponent responds by Shocking the {Ornithopter} (we all know its an Ornithopter), Fearie doesnt have anyone to bounce so it its sac'ed, correct?

That is the exact situation mickeven. The instant he used is fiery fall. Then my question is if I have another faerie imposter in my hand can I cast it and return either the first faerie or the one that he is trying to deal damage to to my hand?

Or cast another creature with flash and return that to my hand saving faerie imposter

So you cast {faerie imposter}. His etb trigger resolves and you pass priorty to your opponent. He responds to the etb ability by {shock}ing your {ornithopter}. Now he passes prority. The etb trigger will not yet resolve. First you will get priority, and if you have any creatures with flash, you could cast them and then sacrifice them to the etb trigger.
